Statutory audit & assurance
Independent audit of financial statements for companies, institutions, cooperative societies and not-for-profit organizations, reported in accordance with the duties placed on external auditors by the Companies and Allied Matters Act.
We audit the financial statements of limited companies, government agencies and parastatals, cooperative and thrift societies, churches, schools, hospitals and not-for-profit organizations. The work conforms with International Auditing and Assurance Standards, and we report in accordance with the reporting duties placed on external auditors by the Companies and Allied Matters Act.
An engagement begins with an understanding of your business and its risks, not with a standard file. We take into special consideration the accounting problems particular to your organization when designing the audit programme, so that the testing concentrates where a misstatement would actually matter — where the money moves, where the records are weakest, and where the judgements are hardest.
What you receive is the audited financial statements and the auditor's report, together with a management letter setting out the control weaknesses we found and what we recommend be done about them. The management letter is usually the more useful document of the two.
We also carry out agreed-upon procedures engagements, where a specific set of tests is performed and reported factually without an audit opinion — appropriate where a funder, regulator or board wants a defined question answered rather than a full audit.
