Who we are
EkojA B. EkojA & Co. is a firm of Chartered Accountants in continuous practice since 1997, with its head office in Jos and a resident office in Abuja. We provide audit and assurance, accountancy, taxation, and management and financial consultancy to companies, government institutions, co-operative societies and not-for-profit organizations throughout Nigeria.
The firm was built to be a dynamic, effective and result-oriented practice — one that offers not only audit services, but the comprehensive, value-based management service the global marketplace now expects of an accountant. That is still the brief.
We have three partners, each of whom brings a substantial and diverse background in audit and consultancy, and each of whom trained at an international accounting firm. Behind them sits a complement of professional staff and consultants sized to the needs of the clients we serve.
Training is our major anchor. Regular in-house programmes are supported by a planned annual external training available to everyone in the firm, so that technical and professional competence sits across the practice rather than being concentrated at the top of it.
Through our member firm, EBE Consulting (Taxation, Computer and Management Consultants), we operate as an enterprise group. The intention is straightforward: to be a comprehensive corporate advisor, not an auditor alone. We are positioned to know a client's market and operating environment, their problems and their competitive advantages, and to provide the expert services that improve performance and competitiveness.

Our story
The enterprise group commenced operations in 1997.
It was founded by Ekoja B. Ekoja, who had lectured in accounting at the University of Jos from 1988 and then trained at KPMG Audit Jos — now Akintola Williams Deloitte — where he served as Audit Senior until 1997. He has been Managing Partner of the firm since it opened, and remains Partner in charge of Audit and Consulting.
Naths K. Nmadu became Partner in charge of Consulting in the same year, arriving from a Supervisory Senior role at Akintola Williams Deloitte and a spell as Assistant Financial Controller at the Abuja Sheraton Hotel and Towers. Sebastine A. Barde joined in 1998 as Partner in charge of Information Technology, after periods as District Accountant at National Oil, Audit Manager at Joshua Dariye & Co., and Senior Lecturer in Accounting at the Plateau State Polytechnic.
The early work set the pattern the practice still follows. Pre-licensing inspection reports for the Central Bank of Nigeria on community banks at Wase, Nimbar, Nassarawa and Belel. Verification of local debt on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Finance. Accounting manuals designed for the Local Government Staff Pension Board in Lafia and for the University of Jos Consultancy. Revenue generation and collection consultancy for the Plateau State Water Board across the Bukuru metropolis.
From there the practice grew across three constituencies that still define it: government institutions and their agencies, in Plateau, Nasarawa, Gombe and Taraba States and at federal level; companies in mining, manufacturing, agriculture, health and media; and the cooperative societies, churches and not-for-profit organizations whose accountability to their members is every bit as demanding as a company's is to its shareholders.
In December 2025 Asindare Philemon Mikailu joined as Resident Manager of the Abuja office, bringing twenty-one years at the Central Bank of Nigeria — latterly as Head of the Settlement Accounting and Reconciliation Division — to the firm's federal capital practice.

How we work
Our audit approach conforms with International Auditing and Assurance Standards for private sector audits and agreed-upon procedures engagements; with the International Standards of Supreme Audit Institutions for public sector audits; with International Internal Audit Standards for internal audit engagements; and with the reporting duties of external auditors under the Companies and Allied Matters Act.
Within that framework, we design the audit programme around the accounting problems particular to your organization, rather than working a standard file from front to back. The point of the engagement is to provide adequate assurance service on the things that actually carry risk in your accounts.
A partner is specifically designated to the public sector — to monitor and analyse the economy using specialized economic and decision-making models, and to service government and its agencies more efficiently and effectively. Government remains a major player in shaping the economy, and public sector engagements are not private sector engagements with different letterhead.
Our fees are moderate and are generally based on the scale of professional fees issued by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. Where accountancy services are provided in addition to the audit, they are charged separately, so you can see what each service costs. Transportation to and from your premises and the printing of accounts or reports are treated as reimbursable. During field work at your premises we ask, as a matter of courtesy, that accommodation and feeding be provided for our staff.
